Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the most common occupational illness in Great Britain, affecting 1.0 million people a year. They include problems such as low back pain, joint injuries and repetitive strain injuries of various sorts-source HSE.
Many of these relate to injury of the spine or supporting muscle groups (musculo-skeletal) whilst lifting, without proper instruction at work. This also extends to stretching, pushing and pulling in an incorrect manner. This course explains the basics of safe lifting methods, whether on a construction site or in an office. The synonym “Task Individual Load Environment” (TASK) is used to explain how lifting should be planned and executed. The objective: to reduce the number of people suffering from work-related injuries from incorrect manual handling.
